Daniel 11:35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.

Commentary:

God loves each of us. His own covenant (assurance) is that each of us will enjoy the greatest of all gifts, eternal life. This is a gift from God and it is given to those of faith through His generosity and mercy. Our God knows us as an artist knows each brush stroke of a painting. This is so because God is our creator. As we place our faith in God and on Christ, we begin to recognize that in order to transition into the eternal world, we must be “refined.” This verse in Daniel is pointing out that our response to hardships should be to accept them as a necessary part of our Christian growth. While this is easy to say and hard to do, it is the hardships of life that will bring us closer to a personal relationship with our Savior.
